Born April 18, 1949, Havana, Cuba. Inspired by Afro-Cuban traditions, Mederox is a self-taught artist with a poetic imagination. His technique of drawing images on the back of paper pressed on a board previously impregnated with printing ink, produces works that are rich and highly textured. He has shown his work in solo exhibitions in Cuba, Spain, Mexico and U.S. He is part of permanent collections at Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno (IVAM) and Museo Valenciano del Papel. He is a member of the Union of Writers and Artists in Cuba (UNEAC).
