The cover design by Guerrero features a striking psychedelic composition centered on a multi-layered rainbow star containing a silhouetted photograph by Helio Ojeda of Niño Rivera with his guitar. The vibrant concentric stripes in blue, pink, yellow, green, and red create a dynamic, op-art effect characteristic of 1970s Cuban graphic design. The back cover expands this concept, surrounding Rivera's image with smaller stars bearing the names of fellow musicians including El Guajiro Mirabal, Miguelito Cuní, Rubén González, and others—a constellation of Cuban musical talent.

The album showcases Niño Rivera y su Conjunto performing son-montunos, guarachas, and boleros. Born in Pinar del Río in 1919, Ignacio "Niño" Rivera began his career with the Gran Orquesta Melodías del 40 in 1957 before founding his own conjunto in 1959. Rivera was an influential figure in Cuban popular music, having performed with legendary groups including Arcaño y sus Maravillas and Riverside, and touring internationally to Rome, Spain, and Italy in 1961. The album's liner notes, written by nueva trova icon Pablo Milanés, celebrate Rivera's contributions to Cuban musical traditions and his status as a beloved figure in the country's cultural landscape.
