Conrado W. Massaguer - "¿Voy bien, Camilo?" (1959)
A rare commemorative publication by legendary Cuban caricaturist Conrado W. Massaguer (1889-1965), celebrating the triumph of the Cuban Revolution on January 1, 1959.
Massaguer was Cuba's most influential graphic artist and magazine publisher of the 20th century, founding iconic publications like "Social," "Gráfico," and "Carteles." His bold, expressive caricature style defined Cuban visual journalism for generations.
This offset print features Massaguer's distinctive artwork depicting Fidel Castro and the late revolutionary hero Camilo Cienfuegos. The title "¿Voy bien, Camilo?" ("Am I doing well, Camilo?") became a poignant refrain after Cienfuegos' death in October 1959, just months after this publication.
Published by Estudio Massaguer in Havana, this piece represents a pivotal moment in Cuban history and graphic arts—documenting the early revolutionary period through the eyes of Cuba's master caricaturist.
