  • SANDRA DOOLEY was born in Havana in 1964 and now lives in the seaside town of Santa Fe, just outside of Havana. She is a painter, works in mixed media and recently took up printmaking as well. She is a self-taught artist – she was teaching English to young students when she decided she wanted to paint instead. Her paintings reflect her daily life at home with her family, friends, dogs and cats. The women are often reflective and thoughtful, life is familiar and intimate. Sandra’s paintings of black women in Cuba were commissioned especially for the Harlem-Havana exhibits.

She has exhibited widely in the U.S. including a personal exhibit at the Center for Cuban Studies in 2010 when she traveled outside of Cuba for the first time to inaugurate the exhibit. She has participated in more than 80 group shows in the U.S., Canada and France. She has been a popular exhibitor at the Santa Fe Folk Art Fair in NM for the past three years. Her works are in the private collections of many known collectors in the U.S.
